| Born in
Southern Morocco, Hassan was introduced to the rhythms of the Atlas
mountains from an early age through the Berber music repertoire, taught
by ear and passed on from generation to generation.
After his early school years in Marrakesh Hassan studied with Soulaiman Chouqi at the Conservatoire Municipal de Casablanca, where he learnt the Oud and furthered his studies in classical Arab Musicology. After receiving "Le premier Prix du Conseratoire" Hassan then moved to Brussels to study at the Academie de Musique de Woluwe St Lambert studying classical violin, guitar and piano as well as further academic studies. Hassan left the Academie with an "Attestation" with distinction to start his performing career.
